I have three cats. Their names are Dini, Ginsberg, and Rainbow Friends. Dini is an abbreviation of his proper name: Houdini. He is not a sneak, nor is he magical. He is fat and smells sometimes. Ginsberg is named after poet Allen Ginsberg and he is a distinguished cat. He looks as intelligent as his name implies. Rainbow Friends, meanwhile, is our friendliest cat, and his name comes from a 6-year-old girl’s imagination…or maybe it’s a show. I know not.
They are not may favorite animals, but I have grown to love them, even though they puke a lot and use the bathroom too much and are too needy, and one of them pokes his head up every time I eat dinner, expecting some food; me being pathetic, I typically oblige.
My favorite animals are actually hamsters. I had a great one when I was a kid. His name was Ham-Star. He was a cool dude, and we used to put him in a plastic ball and let him do circles in the living room. I like hamsters because they are friendly but stick to themselves–like me–and they are crafty and know comfort–also like me. They are kind of like Hobbits of the animal kingdom, which makes them an important species.
