Essay: Where Can You Reduce Clutter in Your Life?

Bloganuary writing prompt
Where can you reduce clutter in your life?

One place I can reduce clutter in my life is in my mind. I truly feel as though my brain is overloaded with memories of my past that simply won’t go away. Yes, some of them are regrets; in fact, if I was honest, most of them would be regrets. However, some of them are just basic traumas and silly choices that I still can’t believe I committed to when I was of a certain age. I have difficulty living in the now, which is a problem, because many great changes are happening now.

My daughter is growing older and is gaining self-awareness. My wife and I are establishing ourselves in more tangible ways. I have flipped my mental paradigm, which means I actually have emotions now and more intimacy with my own feelings and thoughts. It has been a strange awakening, but it has been welcomed, even though it has caused a great deal of problems for my sense of self.

Decluttering unnecessary thoughts and reflections would benefit me greatly, but I think that takes time, and I really need to focus on the now and what matters, as opposed to what I’ve been through or what I’ve actions I regret from the past.
