The November cold has come again
Frost in the morning
Hats and coats
back in the rotation.
School is rainy and cold
until the warm sweater sets in
but there is frost on the window until noon
and then it’s almost back to late summer.
The November cold comes again
When night surrounds us with its chill
pajamas become thicker
and the fireplace ticks on.
Bedtime is necessary
as the dark comes early
and there is frost on the window again
then it’s almost back to early winter.
Hold our mittened hands together
and laugh about warmer days
as the sun is out today
and we can see our breath.
We try to remember to smile
even as our noses grow red

so we will be cold again next year.
