Poetry: Contingency Plans for Every Occasion

Daily writing prompt
Create an emergency preparedness plan.

In a crisis situation.
I always run for the exit.
Or the nearest window,
but I’m on the 2nd floor,
so that’s why I bought rope.

With an act of God,
I get as low to the ground as possible,
except if it’s a tsunami,
then I get out my raft.

I have also prepped for many
other emergencies.
Including Doomsday.
Duck and cover is one plan.

A giant cargo hold stocked with
regular amenities is another.
And a bugout kit is yet more,
as I head into the wild.

If stuck on an island,
I will survivor type if I must.
I will also lord of the flies it.
Or castaway into the grass
and palm trees
and cease to exist.

But, usually,
I just look for
the nearest
exit.
