What brings peace?
All of hackneyed things,
children and wife,
always bring solace.
But other things do, too.
Quiet mornings and coffee.
The shades drawn up on the window,
and the birds at the feeder.
The far-off field and the sun,
rays of light or full blankets,
on the changing crops
in the summertime.
Cold autumn mornings,
with overcast skies,
and the brown, yellow, and orange,
trees waving against the wind.
Bright winter days when the sun
is about to go down for sleep,
and the splintery light lays gold
on the snowy yard.
In the spring renewal,
when the trees start to bloom,
and the first warm rain comes in,
washing it all away again.

So soothing to read. Beautiful. ❤️

Thank you. I was trying to be as “at peace” as I could when writing.
