Poetry: Some Things Are Not For Me

I still learn lessons,

and I’m still being taught.

That never ends,

a used bicycle that still pedals.

Some things are not for me.

They will never be.

Some people can do it,

and others just can’t,

like a task that runs you down emotionally.

The lesson isn’t that you aren’t able,

but that it’s okay

that you aren’t able.

Some people just can’t.

Never come back expecting different results.

As they say,

the repetition of hell is insanity.

Yet, accepting that philosophy

is completely okay.

Because you are more than one thing.

You just have to accept it,

without indignation and spite.

Remember: you are more than one thing,

You can be two. Happy and sad.

Glad and mad.

In agreement and disagreement.

Life will never be

black and white.

Always shades of gray.

That is to say,

the task isn’t the goal,

it’s being okay with the task

in the first place.
