Poetry: Stunts

The first time I jumped off a roof
Was no action movie

I landed in the grass
Legs first
And they squished
My knees into my face

I was out for long minutes
And woke up confused

The grass beneath me held my head
The night sky looked down upon me
in anguish.

I road my bike home and past
And then doubled back
to my house
But I was supposed to meet at a friend’s

I never made it.
You’re not supposed to sleep with a concussion.
But I did.
And sometimes I forget things.

Chasing friends off the roof
Had been a bad idea
