Poetry: Time and Less

Daily writing prompt
What could you do less of?

The world spins quickly,
but so does everybody.
Could we do more with less?
I don’t have an idea.

I would like to get my work done,
complete my errands–
and the tasks of loved ones,
just to plainly sit.

Nevertheless, we stuff time
into a calendar
and try to check the boxes
without rhyme

or reason, because
that’s simply what
we do from youth
until old, without thought.

How can I rest, and unlock
the doors of perception
without proper time
to sit and contemplate?
